Holiday in Kenya at Dianibeach

A further flight of stone stairs leads up to the top floor which an open plan design consisting of a beautiful modern fitted kitchen with black granite work tops including an electric fan assisted oven with gas hob. There is also a pantry/store within the kitchen area. The rest of the top floor is taken up with the dining area, sitting area and balcony which overlooks the Shimba hills. There is a hard wood staircase that leads up through the water tank room and onto the top of the tower with wonderful views of the sea.

The house has a staff quarter for one person attached which comprises of a room with ensuite and small courtyard.

The window shutters and all the doors are made from hardwood and beautifully finished. All the floors are of natural local stone or red quarry type tiles. The stair well has two stained glass windows as features.

The house also has solar panels fitted for hot water for bathing/showering.
There are security buttons fitted in all three bedrooms and one mobile button for the staff.


Marijani

Marijani is a beautiful, gated community consisting of ten houses and ten cottages which are situated within a walled compound with good security 24 hours. It has direct access to the wonderful Tiwi beach and also has its own large communal swimming pool. There is no fencing inside the compound and pets are not allowed.

Each house or cottage is owned independently and there are currently three full time residents. The properties can be owned by a non Kenyan resident due to the nature of the whole property being run as a company – Westglade Properties Limited and run by six Directors of whom are part of the 20 Shareholders.

The properties form the shares of each of the 20 shareholders. There are no title deeds with the houses only share certificates. This means that a mortgage can not be obtained to buy a property as a bank would need to hold the title deeds until the mortgage was fully repaid.

As an owner we currently pay Kshs 104,000/- per year as a service charge. This covers the cost of the security buttons within the house, the 24 hour security guards on the gate, the 7 staff who maintain the beautiful grounds and the swimming pool up-keep. On top of that each house has its own water and electricity metre and the bills are given out each quarter with the service charge.
