An open letter to Nakumatt HoldingsDear Sir/Madam
,
Please take a moment to consider the following.
We the undersigned are all either residents or visitors to Diani Beach and it's environs.
Diani Beach as most will agree is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
When Nakumatt opened here we were genuinely pleased to finally have a modern shopping centre.
Unfortunately the success you have attained has become a burden on our fragile environment.
Your billboard!
Everyone who comes to Diani Beach already knows you are here.
Hard to miss the biggest building on the block!
What we are asking you to do is to consider removing your grotesquely oversized signboard on our main road.
Most of us visit your premises at least twice a week, some even more. We know the directions.
You have no competition here so little need of such a huge advertising presence .
We also appreciate that yours is not the only sign unpleasant to the eye, but we do feel that of all companies Nakumatt would lend the most friendly ear to our environmental concerns.
If we can get you to understand it will be easier for us to approach others with similar visual obstructions.
We implore you to make a decisive, benevolent decision.
Call your advertising people now and instruct them that the people of Diani Beach, Galu, Kinondo, Chale Island, Shimoni, Ukunda and Tiwi want your store but not your sign on our main road.
If you are acquainted with the boss of Coca Cola or Safaricom you may ask them to do the same.
Doing so will reward you with untold praise from our community, and definitely gain you lots of publicity.
Good publicity! A rare thing these days.
"Nakumatt really Cares" "Nakumatt listens to it's customers" "Environmentally friendly Nakumatt"
Think about it.
You would save money and have a much appreciative public!
Let's not turn this beautiful area into the "Costa Del Coca Cola" of Africa!
Keep Diani Beach clean and an area people can be proud to call home!
So far we have 140 signatures, many, your customers.
Hoping you will view this request favorably.
Regards
